Partenariat pour le développement : l’APGMV renforce ses relations avec le PNUD dans la mise en œuvre de l’Initiative de la Grande Muraille Verte

Nouakchott, le 07 aout 2018_En vue de donner une nouvelle impulsion de l’appui du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD) à l’Agence Panafricaine de la Grande Muraille Verte (APGMV) dans la mise en œuvre de la Grande Muraille Verte, Docteur Aliou DIA, Responsable de l’équipe Afrique pour le climat et l’adaptation au changement climatique au Centre Régional du PNUD pour l'Afrique basé à Addis-Ababa, accompagné de M. Tahir BASSE, Conseiller régional à la communication et à la gestion des connaissances en poste à Dakar a effectué du 30 au 31 juillet 2018 une visite de travail au siège de l’APGMV en Mauritanie. Au cours de cette visite les représentants du PNUD ont eu une séance de libre-échange avec les différentes Directions et Services de l’APGMV, suivie d’un débriefing de leur mission avec le Pr Abdoulaye DIA, Secrétaire Exécutif et 1er responsable de l’Agence.

La rencontre a permis d’examiner les documents stratégiques et l’état de mise en œuvre des Actions Prioritaires prévues dans le Programme d’Appui triennal 2018-2021 du PNUD à l’APGMV. Il s’agit en particulier d’acquisition de matériel informatique et d’équipements électroniques de cartographie au profit des Services Planification, Suivi-Evaluation de l’APGM et des Structures nationales, du Recrutement de consultants pour la finalisation de l’étude sur la Banque GMV Carbone, l’organisation d’un atelier International de formation sur l’Audit du Bilan Carbone (ABC) et d’évaluation des Crédits Carbone dans les zones d’intervention de la Grande Muraille Verte.

L’appui de l’Organisation onusienne va également porter sur la sensibilisation et la médiatisation des activités de l’Agence, à travers la réalisation d’un film institutionnel de courte durée sur l’APGMV, sa vision, ses objectifs et les résultats obtenus dans certains Etats Membres de la Grande Muraille Verte.

A moyen terme le PNUD va apporter son soutien à l’organisation de la Caravane verte des jeunes de l’espace sahélo-saharien, une campagne de sensibilisation mobilisation des jeunes de l’espace Sahélo-saharien autour des questions de changement climatique, de désertification et leurs effets néfastes sur les communautés et population des terroirs concernés. Un projet de réalisation de film de 52 mn environ avec un producteur et diffuseur de renom est en préparation.

Partnership for development: PAGGW strengthens its relations with UNDP in the implementation of the Great Green Initiative

Nouakchott, August 7th 2018_ To give a new boost to the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW) in the implementation of the Great Green Wall, Dr. Aliou DIA, Regional Team Leader for climate change and adaptation at UNDP Regional Hub for Africa  based in Addis Ababa, accompanied with Mr. Tahir BASSE, Regional Communication & knowledge Management Counselor, based in Dakar, made from 30th to 31th July 2018 a working visit to PAGGW headquarter in Mauritania. During this, the representatives of UNDP had a session of free trade with the various Directions and Services of PAGGW, followed by a debriefing of their mission with Pr. Abdoulaye DIA, Executive Secretary and first responsible of PAGGW.

The meeting took place in the premises of the Pan-African Agency and allowed to examine key strategic papers of common importance for both entities and for implementation of which UNDP is going to bring its technical and financial support. There are namely relative to the recruitment of two (2) international consultants, of which a woman, for the finalization of the study of Carbon Bank, support for the organization in Dakar of a training workshop on Carbon finance mechanisms, as well as the technical audit of CO2 Capital and evaluation of Carbon Credits in  Great Green Wall concerned areas.
UNDP made a commitment for acquisition of computers and electronic mapping equipment for PAGGW Panning, Monitoring-Assesment & Information Management Service. Organization support is also going to awareness and medialization of the activities of the Agency, through the realization of a short-term institutional movie about the APGMV, its vision, its objectives and the results obtained in certain Member States as Mauritania, Senegal, Niger and Nigeria.

In the medium term, UNDP is going to support organization of the Green Caravan of youth of Sahelo-Saharan space, an awareness and mobilization campaign around issues of climate change, desertification and their adverse effects on Communities and Population of the concerned countries. A project of 52-mn movie realization with a producer and a renowned diffuser is being prepared.
