Relance du partenariat APGMV-Chine

Nouakchott, le 18 octobre 2018_Une délégation de l’Institut d’Ecologie et de Géographie de l’Académie des Sciences de Chine conduite par M. Na Zhou, a effectué le lundi 15 octobre 2018 une visite de travail à l’Agence Panafricaine de la Grande Muraille Verte au cours de laquelle elle a été reçue par le Pr. Abdoulaye Dia, Secrétaire Exécutif de l’Agence, entouré de ses proches collaborateurs. La délégation chinoise était pour l’occasion accompagnée par le Directeur de l’Agence Nationale de la Grande Muraille verte de la République Islamique de Mauritanie et une partie de son personnel.

Les discussions entre les deux responsables et leurs équipes respectives ont porté sur l’état du partenariat entre l’Agence Panafricaine de la Grande Muraille Verte et l’Académie des Sciences de Chine à travers l‘Institut d’Ecologie et de Géographie, occasion pour le Secrétaire Exécutif de rappeler à l’attention des partenaires chinois que le Protocole déjà signé avec ledit Institut concerne les 11 Etats membres de l’APGMV pris dans leur globalité.

Le Secrétaire Exécutif a salué l’expertise de la Chine sur les questions de lutte contre la désertification et de Système d’Information Géographique (SIG), des sujets de préoccupation pour l’Agence Panafricaine de la Grande Muraille Verte. Il a indiqué l’objectif pour l’APGMV de restaurer 2 millions d’hectares de terres à l’horizon 2025 tout en marquant son souhait d’avoir l’appui à cette fin de l’Institut d’Ecologie et de Géographie.

Pour souligner l’ampleur de l’appui que l’Institut d’Ecologie et de Géographie peut apporter à l’Initiative GMV, M. Zhou a rappelé la demande expresse du Président Chinois Xi Jinping, lors de la rencontre Chine-Afrique du début du mois de septembre 2018, d’intensifier la lutte contre la désertification en Chine et dans le reste du monde concerné. Par ailleurs il a évoqué la question de la valorisation et de l’exploitation du bambou (Phyllostachys viridiglaucescens) à des fins de développement socio-économique dans les terroirs de la GMV. L’installation d’usines pilotes pour la fabrication de matériels, filets et barrières de protection de périmètres reboisés a été formulée par l’APGMV.

Relaunching of PAGGW and China partnership

A delegation of Ecology & Geography Institute of China Academy of Science led by Mr. Na Zhou, made on Monday, October 15th, 2018 a working visit to the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall during which it was received by Pr. Abdoulaye Dia, Executive Secretary of the Agency, surrounded with his close collaborators. The Chinese delegation was accompanied by Director of National Agency of the Great Green Great Wall of Islamic Republic of Mauritania and a part of his staff.

Discussions between both responsible and their respective teams was about the state of the partnership between the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Great Wall and China Academy of Science, through Ecology & Geography Institute, an opportunity for the Executive Secretary to remind the attention of the Chinese partners that the Protocol already signed with the aforementioned Institute concerns the overall 11 Great Green Wall Member states.

The Executive Secretary greeted the expertise of China on issues related to desertification and Geographical Information system (GIS), subjects of big concern for Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall. He indiçâtes objective for PAGGW to restore 2 million hectares of lands by 2025 while marking his wish to have to this end support of Institute of Ecology and Geography.

Underling the scale of the support Institute of Ecology and Geography can bring to Great Green Wall Initiative, Mr. Zhou called back the express request of the Chinese President Xi Jinping, during China-Africa Forum of the beginning of September 2018, to intensify the fight against desertification in China and in the rest of the concerned world.

Besides he evoked the issue of valuation and exploitation of bamboo three (Phyllostachys viridiglaucescens) for purposes of socioeconomic development in GGW terroirs. Installation of demonstration of pilot plants for manufacturing materials, nets and barriers of protection of reforested perimeters was formulated by PAGGW.
